A number of random things!

1) If you are ever on the Lower East Side and looking for French brunch: Cafe Charbon, 170 Orchard Street (at Stanton)

Prix fixe was $14.95 with a mimosa or a Bloody Mary, $11.95 with coffee, and every single thing my friends and I ate was 100% delicious. Also, the maitre d' was French and cute and saucy. I am not a fan of the tiny mustache, and yet it WORKED for him. Especially when he smiled and flirted.

2) Possibly I might have mentioned that Merlin ate me. I blame this guy:

If you are in Merlin fandom at all, eight pages of comments say you have probably read this already, but let me just mention that I convinced my roommate to read this story, and my roommate has not been in fandom of any description for YEARS. You know why she is reading it?

Because it is just like The Prince & Me if it were better, hotter, and gay. Also this story has GOSSIP BLOGS. You do not need to be in Merlin fandom to read this story. You just need to be ALIVE.

I should say, because this is a fairly frustrating point for people who get really into stories and want them to be perfect, that the pacing gets a little wonky at the end. Regardless, I have a whole lot of trouble caring, because it is quite possibly the best universe ever. Have I mentioned the part where Arthur is the GAY PRINCE OF WALES yet? Because oh yeah. He is.

4) This is a placeholder for the massive Merlin recs post that I obviously need to make, because Merlin fic is pretty much how I spend all of my time. Yikes.

OH MY GOD MERLIN ATE ME ALIVE, TOO. I'm reading The Crown Of The Summer Court (http://www.intimations.org/fanfic/merlin/The%20Crown%20of%20the%20Summer%20Court.html) by

astolat, right now at this very moment, and it is BRILLIANT.

Ha, I just finished that about ten minutes ago. It was very cool- moving, too.

It is =) I cried like a baby and laughed and panicked and wanted to hug everyone and I loved it.

Oh don't worry, I've got that one covered. :D Morgana is totally my favorite. And Arthur. And Merlin.

And friggin' all of them.

I haven't actually watched it yet, even though I've got all the links and everything, because I has no usage and it makes me sad.

I watched it streaming on, like, Youku with crazy subtitles, while at work, and so I keep catching screencaps in vids and picspams where I am like, "I DON'T REMEMBER THAT," and think I missed an ep or something -- and then it'll turn out it was just a moment where I turned away from the screen, covered my eyes to stop the embarrassment, etc. Because seriously, there are some REALLY embarrassing lines.

Buuuut Arthur and Merlin are pretty and super extra gay. So it's worth watching. Also Morgana is kickass! And I like Gwen a LOT.

Words cannot say how much I liked Drastically Redefining Protocol. It's what lured me back into Merlin fandom when I was ready to say, yeah, this show sucks, and I am bored. But the eye candy, the slashiness... I cannot back away.

Colin Morgan is pretty, even with the ears.

Yeah, there are parts of the show that I really do like, but for the most part I was sitting there going THIS IS KIND OF EMBARRASSING.

But then I would see Colin Morgan doing something like laughing or grinning or generally, you know, existing, and I would forget the pure stupidity for a minute and enjoy it.

Knowing just how many awesome writers are in the fandom also helped a whole lot.

Yeah, there's just so much good fic for such a... mediocre... show (same with SPN, although that one might be a bit better). It's sucking me in!

I think SPN was better when I first got into it. Not, like, consistently, but I really genuinely liked a whole lot of the arc of S1 and part of S2; with Merlin from the start I have just been like AHAHA WHAT.

Yeah, exactly... I'm less into what's happening, canonically, in SPN right now, but I still keep an eye on it. It was just sweeter in the beginning... Ah, the rush of new love.
And Merlin's just.... well, special. And gay, which is the main reason i tune in ; )

Yes, Merlin has a habit of eating people's brains. *sigh* It's unbelievable, in less than a week I went from "oh, nice show!" to "OMGGIMMEMOAR!!1!". Drastically Redefining Protocol is amazing, and the trailer is just... wow - I'm making people watch it, even if they aren't in the fandom, let alone have read the fic! *g*

I may or may not have stayed up until the wee hours of the morning rereading DRP from the start. "I'm just going to look at the beginning again," I told myself. "Only a few pages!" OBVIOUS LIE.

OH BELIEVE ME I HAVE. Thank goodness there is a tiny contingent of my flist that has gotten into Merlin; I COULD NOT BE LEFT ALONE TO THIS MADNESS.

You know, I always fancied myself more an Arthur girl, but that photo just made me reconsider. I think it's because Colin simply looks MUCH younger than Bradley does when he's clean shaven and, it just doesn't DO IT for me.

I'm really hoping that the show does a thing where they take us into one of Morgana's dreams of the future and we see a young king Arthur with FACIAL HAIR and scruffy Merlin drool wibble pant

Ohhh, love Café Charbon! That bar is actually one of the very few in which I feel comfortable having a drink and reading a book by myself, without fear of being accosted by skeezy guys.

Oh man yes! That bar section really did look like the PERFECT place for that.
